Media Monitoring Africa, in partnership with the Australian Volunteers Program invites journalists and other media practitioners to a training workshop on inclusive and ethical reporting on children. The training is the last in the series where MMA has been conducting skills training for the media to promote diversity of voices and sources and, the ethical representation of children in news.
Â
Every year since 2003, MMA has conducted research into how the media reports on children and findings reveal that children only feature in news currently at 10% and even when they feature in the news, their voices are seldom heard at 7%.
Â
At the event, MMA will also be launching the 2022 State of Children in the Media report where we analysed media’s coverage of children.
Â
Join us on the 26th of April at Ford Foundation for a training that is much needed to safeguard children’s interests in the media.
